Used with vibratory orbital and straight line sanders, to produce matte and satin finishes. Rolls are also cut to size and used by hand or to finish a part turning on a lathe or spindle. Our standard Abrasives™ surface conditioning rolls come in a variety of grades and are color coded by grade to help operators save time and avoid error when using multiple grades in a sequence. The very fine grade will cut less aggressively and produce a finer finish whereas the coarse grade will cut more aggressively and produce a coarser finish. Aluminum oxide mineral used for FE and RC material renders them a good match for use on ferrous metals, high nickel/chrome alloys and stainless steel. The aluminum oxide mineral is friable and fragments under heat and pressure to reveal sharp-cutting edges and this cycle of renewal keeps the abrasive cutting fast. Our standard Abrasives™ surface conditioning roll with FE material helps prepare workpieces for gleaming finishes by doing the heavy lifting up front, it has a high initial rate of cut and some its best uses include deburring and blending. Among standard Abrasives™ surface conditioning materials, FE material is best when high contact pressure and stock removal are required. Our standard Abrasives™ surface conditioning roll with RC material offers the best initial rate of cut compared to other surface conditioning materials. It is a versatile abrasive that can deburr, clean, blend and finish. Above all, it is the best material for flat surface finishing. Among standard Abrasives™ surface conditioning materials, RC material best rises to the challenge on ferrous metals where final finish is important and is a good choice for aluminum. Its high cut rate helps it deliver on consistency, so users get a uniform cut over the entire surface. Surface conditioning material combines non-woven nylon fibers and aluminum oxide mineral using a resin bond to create an open web. Its resin bond tolerates heat and enhances overall abrasive durability. Moreover, gaps between the non-woven fibers allow swarf and debris to escape, prolonging abrasive service life. Overall, surface conditioning products provide a more compact structure of non-woven fibers than buff and blend products. Surface conditioning products have a woven polyester fabric (scrim) embedded in the nylon structure to provide additional strength and durability for edgework , deburring and efficient blending of all metal types. They resist loading, can be washed and reused and may be used with lubricants. The standard Abrasives™ brand has supplied quality abrasives to the metalworking industry for over 50 years. Customers rely on our broad offering of high performance products including coated, bonded and non-woven abrasive lines.
