3M™ diamond polishing cloth belt 652WY is engineered with micron graded diamond, a long-lasting resin bond and a water-resistant X-weight cloth backing for polishing and finishing materials harder than 62 on the Rockwell C scale. Uniquely engineered to tackle the toughest jobs, 3M™ diamond polishing cloth belt 652WY is constructed with micron graded diamond particles encapsulated in a resin bead. As the resin erodes, diamond particles continue to be exposed. Diamond is extremely useful in polishing for its unique ability to produce excellent surface finishes on hard to grind materials. We used a tough resin bond designed to retain the diamond through its useful life. 652WY has a water-resistant, X-weight cloth backing that should be used wet. Coolant is useful to remove grinding swarf and extending abrasive life. It also keeps grinding temperatures cooler. This belt is available in 3000 mesh, 8000 mesh or 50,000. The belt is available in a variety of sizes. PSA and QRS backings are available in all grades. This belt's overall toughness makes it ideal for polishing and finishing ceramics, chilled cast iron, thermal spray coatings and the many extremely hard composites being used more often in more industries. Using systematic solutions to yield the desired geometries within tolerances, consistently, with belts represents a cost effective way to achieve super finishing results without super finishing equipment.
