Depressed center wheels may also be referred to as raised hub wheels or by their shape designation Type 27, 28 or 29, with Type 27 being the most popular. The depressed center design allows the flange/lock nut to recess within the wheel so that it can be used for various grinding and cutting applications. Depressed center wheels are designed to handle the most severe right angle grinding applications from heavy stock removal to rough blending. More recently, depressed center wheels have been designed for cut-off applications when the tool is proper designed with flanges and guards. While large right angle grinders (7 in & 9 in) have been around for many years, small or mini grinders that handle 4 in, 4-1/2 in and 5 in wheels have made this machine, and wheel category, the most popular in power tools.

  • NorZon plus fast cut wheels are the best choice for steel stainless steel and exotic metals providing the highest cut rate of any wheels on the market
  • Our highest content of patented Norton SG ceramic alumina grain in a free cutting bond matrix allows this wheel to cut dramatically freer, initially and maintain that same cut rate throughout the life of the wheel
  • Reinforced for the most aggressive foundry applications
  • Highest productivity and lowest total cost
  • With quick-change hub for tool free wheel changes to increase productivity
  • Long life - longest lasting
  • Foundry snagger
  • Designed to withstand the most aggressive foundry application
  • Best option when the best combination of life, cut rate and lowest heat generation is primary concern and able to measure total cost
  • Best option when longest possible life is primary concern, rough grinding conditions require wheel durability, using high cycle, high horsepower grinders and lower labor cost are key
  • Noticeably longer life and faster cut rate versus competitive wheels
  • Less pressure required for first cut
