Seco offers a range of shrink fit holders compatible with an MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubrication) system. As an alternative to flood coolant, MQL uses an emulsion of mixed air and oil to reduce coolant costs, operator exposure to chemicals and the need to clean workpieces, while also simplifying the recycling of chips. There are two distinct approaches to MQL. With MQL1, the emulsion is produced prior to entering the spindle and passed through the spindle, toolholder and tool. With MQL2, the emulsion is produced in a chamber within the toolholder . Seco's MQL range of shrink fit holders shares most dimensions and characteristics with the EPB 5403/5603 shrink fit holders, but with the addition of MQL capabilities. EPB 5403M is compatible with MQL1 and MQL2 accessories and is ideal for customers already equipped with MQL or willing to run tests with a limited tool inventory. EPB 5403M1 is equipped with MQL1 accessories. This holder is delivered pre-assembled with the MQL1 coolant tube and stop end screw. Only one combination of toolholder , coolant tube and stop end screw is possible for each EPB 5403M1 holder. EPB5403M2 is equipped with MQL2 accessories and delivered pre-assembled with the appropriate accessories, but multiple combinations are possible with each holder. Accessory selection is determined by the cross-sections of the tool's coolant channels and stop end screw coolant channel.
